Note & Key

Give parents their own window into lessons

Half a music teacher's messages are parents asking the same things: when's the next lesson, what should my child practice, and what do we owe? Note & Key gives each family their own portal with those answers, so you teach instead of playing receptionist.

How it works

  1. 1From a student's profile, invite their parent by email to the family portal.
  2. 2The parent gets their own login and sees that student's upcoming lessons, current assignments and attached sheet music, practice log, and invoices.
  3. 3When you send an invoice, the family can view exactly which lessons it covers and pay it — by card or your e-Transfer details — from the same portal.

Common questions

Can parents see their child's lesson schedule?

Yes. Once you invite a parent to the family portal, they get their own login and can see their child's upcoming lessons, assignments with any attached sheet music, practice log, and invoices — without you forwarding anything.

Do parents and students need their own accounts?

Each family member you invite uses their own login to the same student's portal. The teacher sets everything up; parents and students just accept the emailed invite to get access — there's nothing for them to configure.

Can families pay invoices from the portal?

Yes. Invoices you send appear in the family portal, where parents can see which lessons they cover and pay by card (when you've connected Stripe) or via the e-Transfer details you provide.

Does the parent portal cut down on messages?

That's the point. When parents can self-serve the schedule, assignments, and what's owed, you stop answering the same three questions by text every week.
